What is suitable work?


Suitable work or suitable vocational training (including further training or vocational retraining) is determined according to three conditions:

1. The work is in your profession or the type of main work that you worked in the three years preceding unemployment; or the work or vocational training is compatible with your level of education, your state of health and your physical fitness.

2. The salary for the work is not lower than the unemployment benefits to which you are entitled.

3. The work or vocational training does not require a change of residence.

 

A job or vocational training not requiring a change of residence is one of the following:

  • The job or vocational training is located less than 60 km from your permanent place of residence.
  • For a mother with a child under 7 years old - a job or vocational training that is located less than 40 km from her place of residence.
  • There is proper public transportation to and from the workplace or training location, or there is transportation to and from the workplace on behalf of the employer, even if the distance exceeds 60 km, provided that in any case the travel time to and from work, which exceeds one hour, is considered working time.
  • For those who do not live with a family member - if you are guaranteed accommodation at the workplace or training location and travel expenses from your place of residence to the workplace and back at least once every two weeks.

 

Despite the above, for the following employees, any job that is compatible with their state of health and physical fitness will be considered suitable work, even if it does not match their profession or level of education, and even if the salary in the offered job is lower than the unemployment benefits to which they are entitled:

  • Those who have reached the age of 28, but have not yet reached the age of 35 - after two months of unemployment
  • Those who have reached the age of 25, but have not yet reached the age of 28 - after 30 days of unemployment
  • Those who have not yet reached the age of 25 - After 14 days of unemployment.


Note: For seasonal workers - any work will be considered suitable work.
